Black Rabbit Design was faced with the challenge of fitting multiple programs into a single 1400 sf unit for a retiring couple with multi-functional lifestyles. The historic Cambridge Tower is a mid-mid-century concrete and glass marvel, originally built by Dallas-based architect Thomas E Stanley. We sought to preserve and enhance Thomas E Stanley’s original design intent. Full height cabinetry line all of the walls of the unit in a rhythm that aligns with the original floor-to-ceiling glass balcony storefront units. A mobile wall create the master closet and recess to expand the multi-functioning great room. The enclosed 100 sf ‘privacy’ room serves as a bedroom, office, media room, yoga space, and utility room. The furniture was custom designed to recess and attach to the cabinetry and millwork built-ins throughout the space.
